Hendrick Porsche is opening a new Charlotte location on Independence Boulevard in early August. The new luxury car dealership will be the largest of its kind between Atlanta and the District of Columbia, Hendrick says.

The new location is at 6800 E. Independence Blvd., just north of Hendrick Porsche’s current spot.

Hendrick Porsche outgrew its current location about five years ago, said Albie Blanco, a operations manager for Hendrick Porsche. Its new spot will have about 30,000 square feet of interior space, including a 15-16 car showroom, and about 100 cars out on its lot.

Along that stretch on Independence, Hendrick also has dealerships that sell Lexus, BMW, Acura, MINI and Land Rover, among other brands.

“Our new location has been in the works for a few years and its completion is just around the corner,” Blanco said.

The Hendrick Automotive Group is the largest privately held dealership in the country. It’s run by NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick, who also runs Hendrick Motorsports.
