City Barbeque will open its first Charlotte restaurant Sept. 3 in the Ballantyne Town Center.
The smokehouse chain was supposed to open Aug. 27, but construction has pushed the opening date back, a restaurant representative said.
Ahead of the opening, the restaurant is holding a homemade BBQ sauce contest. Recipes must be sent to CWoodard@citybbq.com by Aug. 17, and more information can be found on its website.
City Barbeque is headquartered in Ohio and was started in 1999. Some of its menu items include pulled pork, beef brisket, mac and cheese and hush puppies. The chain also has North Carolina locations in Cary, Durham and Garner.
