One person was killed after being ejected from an SUV in the 2600 Block of Park Road near the entrance of the Willow Ridge Apartments.

The victim in an early morning fatal car crash on Park Road has been identified as a 25-year-old Charlotte businessman, who recently graduated from the University of South Carolina.

Police say Kyle Lord of Charlotte died Tuesday after being thrown from the vehicle he was driving on Park Road, not far from Carolinas HealthCare Systems Pineville.

The vehicle is registered to one of his parents, officials said. WBTV says Lord is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina.

Lord reportedly grew up in the Catholic school system in Charlotte and was a 2010 graduate of Catholic High, where he played lacrosse.

The crash site was reported about 7 a.m. Tuesday, at the entrance of the Willow Ridge apartments, near Park Crossings Drive. Investigators say the SUV ran off the road, hit a tree, a brick sign and then flipped several times. Lord was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.

A nearby worker found the man's body in a parking lot, WBTV reports. Police have not said what contributed to the crash and no other vehicles were involved.

It is believed Lord has worked since April as a financial services professional at MassMutual Carolinas on Fairview Road in the South Park area. Someone answering the phone at the company Tuesday said they were not taking media calls about the accident.

A professional Web page for Lord said he was licensed to sell insurance in the Carolinas. It added that he has a degree in business administration, marketing and human resources management from the University of South Carolina at Columbia.
