Man in prison for statutory rape now accused of raping child, age 10

An Iredell County man has been charged with child rape after a relative told investigators he assaulted her multiple times between age 10 and age 13, says the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard Todd Floyd, 53, is charged with first degree sex offense child, rape of child, and indecent liberties with a child. The alleged crimes occurred at 157 Cannistra Drive in Stony Point, which is about 55 miles north of Charlotte.

A report was first filed in the case Sept. 20, officials said. The victim told investigators Floyd, a family member, had sexually assaulted her when she was 10 and continued until she was 13.

Floyd is currently serving 16 years in N.C. Department of Corrections for statutory rape/sex offense on an unrelated crime from March 2013 in Iredell County.
