A worker involved in an equipment-related incident late Wednesday at the Pharr HP Yarns yarn manufacturing plant in McAdenville has died at a hospital, company officials said Thursday.
“Words are not sufficient to express our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and co-workers,” Pharr president Bill Carstarphen said in a statement. “The entire Carstarphen family and the Pharr community will continue to keep everyone involved in our thoughts and prayers.”
Another worker was treated for minor injuries at CaroMont Regional Medical Center and released, officials said.
The company has not released the names of the workers or how they were injured.
“Everyone at Pharr is grieving, but we are committed, of course, to making sure we understand all details about this unfortunate situation,” said Nick Johnson, Pharr’s corporate safety and health manager. “We are working closely with OSHA and all authorities, to investigate.”
Pharr supervisors and the company’s chaplain are working with employees who are grieving their co-worker’s death, the company said.
