A lane on Interstate 485 at the I-485/I-85 interchange in northeast Mecklenburg County will remain closed until 10 p.m. Thursday, after a tractor-trailer wreck in the afternoon, state highway officials said.

The left ramp lane from I-85 south to I-485 Inner Loop reopened shortly after 7:30 p.m.

The wreck at 2:30 p.m. spilled food items onto the side of I-485 and seriously injured a person, multiple media outlets reported.

Medic said it treated the person for potentially life-threatening injuries before taking the patient to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center.

Containers of Stove Top stuffing, barbecue sauce, marshmallows, coffee and cream were among the numerous products dumped from the truck, WSOC-TV reported.

The truck appeared to have hit part of a bridge, Observer news partner WBTV reported.

The cab of the truck was overturned just off the roadway and appeared to be heavily damaged, the station reported.
