Coroner: Lake Wylie man, 31, killed in Monday morning crash north of Rock Hill

staff reports

The York County coroner has identified the driver killed in a one-vehicle crash Monday morning as a 31-year-old Lake Wylie man.

Daniel Cox of Lake Wylie was the driver of a vehicle that left the road and struck some trees, said a statement from York County Coroner Sabrina Gast.

The crash happened around 1:10 a.m. Monday on Museum Road, about three miles north of Rock Hill, near Lake Wylie, officials said.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, said Trooper Joe Hovis with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Cox, who was driving a 2009 Hyundai, was traveling north when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, into a ditch and hit some trees, Hovis said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Gast said.

The highway patrol is investigating.
