Rain will spread across the Charlotte region from the west on Thursday and is expected to linger through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday could see some temporary drying, although more rain could hit the region again Sunday and Monday.
Temperatures are expected to fall from 52 at 5 a.m. to a high of 49 in the afternoon as the storm front moves in. Highs are forecast to rebound to 62 Friday and 69 Saturday.
A quarter- to a half-inch of rain is possible during the day Thursday and again at night. The chance of rain across the region is 80 percent Thursday and 60 percent Friday, according to the latest NWS forecasts.
Less than a 10th of an inch of more rain is forecast for Friday.
On Sunday, the chance of rain is 40 percent and 50 percent at night. Monday has a 40 percent chance of more precipitation.
Tuesday should be partly sunny with a high of 57, and Wednesday mostly sunny with a high near 64, according to the NWS.
