A North Carolina man who apparently couldn’t get enough of the Dollar General store ambiance was arrested Wednesday in Southern Pines – “for hiding in the ceiling.”

The Southern Pines Pilot says Charles Robert Crump Jr., 37, is charged with injury to real property and felony breaking and entering. The store is located in Moore County, in the unincorporated community of West End.

An alert store employee apparently led to Crump’s downfall, so to speak.

The Pilot says the Dollar General staffer told authorities “a person was possibly hiding inside” the business. Investigators believe Crump may have been in the ceiling for at least four hours before he was spotted.

Crump, who lives in Star, was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond, it was reported.

Social media was, of course, tickled at the arrest.

“What Goes Up, Must Come Down,” posted Mac Golden on Facebook, in response to the story.
