A lifeguard rescued a child from a pool at the Morrison Family YMCA in Ballantyne on Wednesday afternoon, a YMCA spokeswoman said.
The child was with her mother when the lifeguard pulled the girl from the water, spokeswoman Molly Thompson said. The girl’s age has not been confirmed, Thompson said.
Initial reports were of a drowning, although Thompson said the girl “was alert and breathing on her own when she was transported to the hospital via EMS.”
Medic reported treating a patient for serious injuries at the same address as the YMCA – the 9400 block of Bryant Farms Road – and taking the patient to Carolinas Medical Center.
