Police identify Charlotte’s 43rd homicide victim, shot on Farmer Street

Police are investigating a shooting off Clanton Road in southwest Charlotte as a homicide, the city’s 43rd of 2017.

Someone called 911 to report a man on the ground just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday on the 2300 block of Farmer Street. The man, who had been shot, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was identified late Sunday as Zachary Joseph Finch, 21.

Farmer Street is off Clanton Road in southwest Charlotte, close to Barringer Elementary School.

Charlotte is on track to pass its 2016 homicide total by a large margin. The 43rd homicide of last year came in September.
