A man accused of strangling a woman and firing a gun at an apartment in east Charlotte has been arrested.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they were called to an apartment in the 8300 block of Parkland Circle at 6:28 p.m. Thursday in reference to a woman who was assaulted and strangled. When she started to leave, police say the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Colton Threadgill, fired a gun at the ground outside the apartment and went back inside.
Officers were able to get the victim out safely.
Threadgill was arrested following a brief standoff.
Threadgill was charged with assault on a female, discharging a firearm in city limits and felony assault by strangulation.
