Kannapolis woman charged after 10-week-old suffers fractured arm, ribs

A 20-year-old Kannapolis woman was arrested after deputies say a 10-week-old child was seriously injured.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, Kayla Marie Horne was charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious physical injury.

Deputies say the baby was taken to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center by family members on Aug. 2. The baby was then transferred to the Levine's Children’s Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The baby had a fractured arm and a healing fracture on the other arm, deputies say. The baby also had three rib fractures, according to the sheriff's office.

Horne was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and given a $125,000 secured bond.
