Charlotte Area Transit System will temporarily close the Lynx Blue Line and CityLynx Gold Line for annual rail system repairs and upgrades this weekend.

The Blue Line will be closed from 3 a.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Monday and the Gold Line from 12 a.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Monday.

Both lines will operate as normal after 3 a.m. on Monday.

During the closures, Gold Rush trolleys will provide service along the Gold Line, and CATS buses will take riders to each Blue Line station. Along the Gold Line, look for CityLynx Connector bus stops and Lynx Connector for bus stops serving light rail.

Riders can still buy a ticket from Lynx station ticket vending machines, use the CATS Pass mobile payment app, use a pass, transfer or have exact change for the bus fare box.

“Maintenance is an essential part of preserving a transit system,” CATS CEO John Lewis said Thursday in announcing the temporary closures. “Our goal is to make all necessary system repairs and upgrades at once. This will ultimately minimize disruption to our riders.”
