A Charlotte man was being treated for a life-threatening gunshot wound early Monday after he and another man were shot during a robbery in an upscale neighborhood off Providence Road.

The victims were not yet identified by police as of early Monday, but TV station WSOC reported the pair are relatives, an uncle and his nephew.

The victims were ages 70 and 25, reported WBTV, the Observer’s news partner. One of them told police that someone entered their home and attacked them, WBTV reported.

Police were called at 3:15 a.m. about a robbery and an assault in the 6500 block of Outer Bridge Lane, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. That area is off Providence Road, about a mile north of Rea Road, and homes are valued in the $300,000-plus range.

One victim sustained a life-threatening wound and the other had a non-life threatening injury, police said. Both were taken by medic to Carolina Medical Center, police said.

The robbers entered through the back of the home, WSOC reported.
