This tree fell across a northeast Charlotte home over night.

A tree fell on a home in northwest Charlotte early Tuesday, and the family that lived there appears to be OK, multiple media outlets reported.

The incident happened on Remington Street near Beatties Ford Road during a rain shower. A neighbor told WCNC the tree had been previously struck by lightning.

The fall apparently wasn’t an isolated event, as several neighbors said trees have fallen in the neighborhood in recent months, WBTV reported.

A woman in the house escaped without being injured, according to multiple media outlets. It’s unclear how many people were in the house at the time of the incident.

The family has been connected with the American Red Cross for housing arrangements, WSOC reported.
