A sewage spill on Tuesday prompted a no-swimming advisory for a Lake Norman cove in Cornelius.

The cove is near the 16800 block of Jetton Road, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services.

About 200 gallons of raw sewage was discharged into the lake , officials said.

A broken wastewater pipe caused the spill. A Charlotte Water crew repaired the pipe.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services will lift the advisory when bacteria levels return to safe levels for swimming.
