Lockdown lifted at Allenbrook Elementary after police activity

The lockdown has been lifted at Allenbrook Elementary school in west Charlotte.

Media outlets reported the school went on lockdown early Thursday as a result of a police search near the school on Allenbrook Drive, off Freedom Drive.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they were looking for a person who had “multiple warrants,” reported the Observer’s news partner WBTV.

A spokesperson with CMPD said the lockdown was lifted just before 11 a.m., WBTV reported.

The lockdown was first reported about 10:15 a.m. Charlotte TV station WSOC reported police were serving warrant on a robbery suspect in the area and he ran.
