A 52-year-old man has life-threatening injuries after a train hit him as he walked on the tracks at a railroad crossing in Belmont, police said late Tuesday.

The man was taken to Caromont Regional Medical Center after the train hit him at 5:25 p.m. at a crossing on South Main Street, police said.
