One man was killed when his car crashed into a tree on the roadside near the Billy Graham Library early Sunday, police said.
Crawford Junior Deveaux, who would have turned 43 on Tuesday, was driving a Mitsubishi Endeavor on Billy Graham Parkway toward Tryon Street when the car went off the right side of the road into a wooded area and hit a tree, police said.
Deveaux was apparently ejected from the car through the driver’s door window, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.
