A wreck has blocked the left lane of Interstate 85 southbound near Graham Street, Exit 40, in Charlotte Tuesday morning. The wreck happened shortly before 7 a.m. and is causing delays.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating several other wrecks, including one at 6 a.m. at Shamrock and Eastway drives in east Charlotte and others that could cause delays. The wreck happened shortly after 6 a.m.
At 6:45 a.m, a wreck with injuries was reported at Mount Holly and Meadecroft roads and a hit-and-run at Woodland Drive and Roanoke Avenue.
Police also were responding to wrecks at LaSalle Street and Senior Drive, East Seventh and North Tryon streets, and East W.T. Harris Boulevard and Hickory Grove Road.
In other traffic news, daily lane closures will occur on Wilkinson Boulevard between Barry Drive and Harlee Avenue beginning this week and continuing until May 31. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
The lane closures are necessary so crews can perform asphalt milling and resurfacing work on Wilkinson Boulevard as part of the North Josh Birmingham Parkway extension for Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Access to driveways will be maintained. CATS will not be affected.
