One person died Saturday in a house fire in east Charlotte, the Charlotte Fire Department announced.

The fire caused $100,000 in damage at a single-story house on Calgary Drive, off Plaza Road Extension, according to the fire department and WBTV.

Twenty-three firefighters controlled the fire in 20 minutes, WBTV reported.

The victim's name has not been released.

The fire and its cause were still being investigated Sunday, the fire department said.
