A Huntersville intersection was closed Thursday after construction work caused a water main break, according to the Huntersville Fire Department.
The incident happened on the 16700 block of Birkdale Commons Parkway near Townley Road. Firefighters said a 8 inch line broke, and that several businesses in the area may have to close due to not having water.
Firefighters were able to shut off the water manually using what they call a "water key," and there have been no reports of damage to any of the businesses.
CMUD was called in to work on the break, but no estimates have been released on when the repairs could be complete.
