A forecast of rain and possible thunder forced organizers to cancel Saturday’s American Airlines Veterans Day Parade along Tryon Street uptown.
“Everything was in place and ready to go, but because of the forecast we decided to err on the side of caution and pull the plug on it,” said Obie Oakley, executive director of the Carolinas Freedom Foundation, which has organized the parade for 20 years. “There were 20 high schools involved and we had to let them know early.” David Perlmutt
