Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a road-rage shooting Friday that left one person injured.
A teenager remains in critical condition at a local hospital Tuesday after being shot Friday in a road rage incident near the UNC Charlotte campus, the Observer's news partner, WBTV, reported.
Police said the victim, 19-year-old Dejanae Gilliam, showed up at Carolinas HealthCare System University with an apparent gunshot wound, WBTV reported. Gilliam lives in the 900 block of Forty Niner Avenue, records show, although it is not yet known whether she is a student.
The incident took place at about 4 p.m. in the 800 block of Pavilion Boulevard, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said, That's about 2.5 miles from the campus. Initial reports had the incident at a different location following a verbal altercation.
CMPD did not divulge other information about the incident, but said it was not related to the university.
