In other traffic news, to accommodate construction for the Lynx Blue Line Extension, part of the intersection of Tom Hunter Road at North Tryon Street will close at 9 a.m. Wednesday and remain closed until 4 p.m. Feb. 24.
The closure will prevent drivers:
▪ On North Tryon from making left or U-turns at Tom Hunter Road.
▪ On University Pointe from crossing the median or making left turns; they will be restricted to only turning right onto North Tryon Street.
Northbound drivers will be able to make U-turns at Sandy Avenue, while southbound drivers will be able to make U-turns at Arrowhead Drive.
The closure will enable the contractor to grade the intersection to its final elevation before light rail track is installed.
Local access to homes will be maintained, and CATS will not be affected.
