Construction of the northern leg of the Lynx Blue Line is scheduled to close part of the intersection at North Tryon Street and Orr Road.

Crews are preparing to block part of the intersection on Monday and continue working through Feb. 29. A winter storm that is moving through the area could delay the closing.

Once the road is blocked, left turns and U-turns would be prohibited for motorists on North Tryon.

Motorists on Orr Road will be permitted only to make a right turn onto North Tryon. Construction will block left turns and crossing the median.

Drivers headed north on North Tryon will be permitted to make U-turns at Arrowhead Drive.

Those headed south on North Tryon will be permitted to make U-turns at Old Concord Road.

Another option for drivers: The Old Concord Road at North Tryon intersection re-opened this weekend. This intersection, just south of the Orr Road - North Tryon intersection, had been closed for light-rail construction.

The 11 stations for the $1.16 billion, 9.3-mile Blue Line Extension light rail service are scheduled to open in August 2017.
