A hit-and-run wreck has downed power lines and closed the intersection of Bradford Drive and Hovis Road in northwest Charlotte Thursday morning.

The wreck happened shortly before 7 a.m.

The intersection will be closed through the morning rush hour while repairs are made, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in a traffic alert at 7:45 a.m.

Surrounding streets and intersections are also without power, and police urge drivers to use caution.

Police have reported traffic signals out along Hovis Road to Brookshire Boulevard, which is experiencing long backups as a result.

The hit-and-run involved a tractor-trailer hitting a utility pole, police said.
