The Charlotte region could reach 80 degrees Tuesday afternoon, an incredible 18 degrees above normal.
Wednesday could inch even higher, to 81 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C.
Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Tuesday should give way to mostly sunny skies.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday also should be mostly sunny, although temperatures will begin to gradually fall until hitting a more normal high of 61 Saturday.
Clouds are expected to roll in Friday night. Saturday and Sunday both have a 40 percent chance of rain, as a low pressure system develops to the south and moves along the Gulf and Southeast coasts.
Temperatures also are forecast to grow colder, with expected highs of 56 Sunday and 58 Monday.
Overnight lows, meanwhile, could drop from 53 early Thursday to 38 by early Monday.
