Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have cleared wrecks on Interstate 77 southbound and northbound Tuesday morning, but congestion remains nearing 8 a.m.
The first wreck happened about 6:50 a.m. at mile marker 7 on I-77 southbound, north of Clanton Road. The left lane was closed initially. The lane reopened by 7:15 a.m.
The second wreck happened shortly after 7 a.m. on I-77 northbound at Tyvola Road. Injuries were reported. The wreck was cleared by 7:40 a.m., police said.
Police also were at wrecks on westbound Brookshire Freeway at southbound I-77, on eastbound Brookshire Freeway at North Davidson Street, and at a wreck with injuries on South Tryon Street at Moss Road.
Other wrecks were reported on East W.T. Harris Boulevard at Albemarle Road and on North Tryon Street at University City Boulevard.
