Habitat for Humanity Charlotte is opening a new ReStore at 8104 University City Boulevard Saturday, June 18.

The 18,000-square-foot site will be the nonprofit’s third store in the area, all of which sell gently used furniture, appliances, cabinets and home renovation materials. New items are also sold, having been donated by major retailers, officials said.

Habitat Charlotte opened its first ReStore on Wilkinson Boulevard in 1996 and its second on North Wendover Road in 2006. During that 20-year span, profits from ReStore operations have funded 143 new Habitat homes, officials said.

The grand opening Saturday will feature an appearance by NASCAR’s M&Ms show car, from 9 am to 11 am, along with the Sprint Cup trophy, courtesy of Joe Gibbs Racing.
