A 12-year-old girl was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she failed to stop her go-kart at a stop sign and was hit by two cars in north Charlotte Thursday night, police said.
Cierra Mitchell was thrown from her go-kart when she collided with a car at Greene Street and West Sugar Creek Road about 9 p.m., police said.
Another car hit Cierra after she was thrown into the northbound lane of West Sugar Creek Road.
Cierra was not wearing a helmet, police said. Medic took the girl to Carolinas Medical Center. In a Facebook post, Cierra’s father said the girl was in a “deep coma” and also had scratches, bruises and possibly a broken leg.
The car drivers were uninjured.
Speed and alcohol were not contributing factors, police said.
