A 33-year-old man died after his speeding motorcycle collided with an SUV on Sharon Road West on Monday night, police said.
Sean Garrett was pronounced dead at Carolinas Medical Center about 45 minutes after the wreck, which happened at 8:45 p.m.
Police said Garrett’s eastbound motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet Traverse that was turning left off Sharon Road West onto Brandon Forest Drive. The intersection is near Quail Corners Shopping Center near Park Road.
The SUV’s driver had nearly completed his turn when the front of the motorcycle struck the right rear quarter panel of the Traverse, police said. The force of the crash spun the Traverse clockwise 180 degrees. The SUV’s driver remained at the scene, police said. He was uninjured.
Alcohol use does not appear to be a factor for either driver, police said.
