A prayer vigil will be held at 6 p.m. today for two people who were shot and killed last Friday during an apparent robbery at the Sun-drop Bottling Co. plant in Concord.
The vigil will be outside the Sun-drop plant, at Branchview Drive (N.C. 3) and Old Salisbury-Concord Road.
Donna Barnhardt, 59, a longtime company employee, and Darrell Noles, 44, who happened to come by to apply for a job that morning, died at the scene.
Concord police are still searching for a black man 25 to 30 years old, and about 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a slim build and shoulder-length dreadlocks. He was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt and was carrying something when he left the building, said Deputy Concord Police Chief Guy Smith.
For the second time this week, officers will be stopping motorists in the area this morning, to pass out 1,200 fliers asking people who travel that route to offer any information they may have.
So far, police have fielded dozens of calls from people offering any information, Smith said.
“We've followed up on everything,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 704-920-5000. Gail Smith-Arrants
