Cabarrus County school board member Liz Poole on Thursday announced she was resigning, effective immediately.
Poole, the past board chairperson who has served for nearly a decade, said she has been offered a job teaching business education at Concord High School as a lateral entry teacher.
It was not immediately clear whether Poole would be replaced before the November election determines who will fill her seat. Poole, the leading vote-getter in the May Republican primary for Cabarrus County commissioner, had intended to vacate her school board seat in December.
“It has been my privilege to serve the students, staff and families of Cabarrus County Schools,” Poole said in a news release. Gail Smith-Arrants
