Two people were shot Sunday after an argument in a troubled east Charlotte complex where a man was fatally shot last week.
The fatal shooting and other crime at Idlewild Apartments prompted neighbors to write letters seeking action from the city council.
The 362 apartments are clustered in decaying, single-story buildings off Independence Boulevard a few blocks south of the well-kept Conventry Woods subdivision.
The neighborhood association is asking police to report on safety issues at the complex and on efforts to get cooperation from its out-of-state owners.

Sunday's shooting happened about 5 p.m. during a disagreement among residents about people loitering outside an apartment in the 5700 block of Cedars East Court, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Capt. Charles Bannerman said.
Someone fired several shots into the floor, striking a woman in the foot and a man in the leg. The victims, whose names and ages were not released, were treated for non-life threatening injuries, Bannerman said.
About 30 adults and children huddled and watched as police collected evidence and interviewed people after the shooting. A woman, who identified herself as the complex manager but declined to give her name, ordered an Observer reporter and other media off the property. Police late Sunday were still investigating the root of the argument and whether it could have been drug-related, Bannerman said.
It's unclear if the Aug. 11 shooting was an accident or a homicide. Calvin Dewayne Black, 21, died after being shot in the company of several others. Police declined to give more details.
Prosecutors will decide if charges are warranted.
