Man shot in carjacking

Police are looking for a carjacked vehicle and five suspects after a robbery and shooting late Wednesday night in northeast Charlotte.

The victim said he was approached by five men, some of them armed with handguns, about 11:40 p.m. in the 4000 block of Briarhill Drive. That is near Milton Drive, west of W.T. Harris Boulevard.

The victim was robbed and shot twice during the crime. The suspects then took his white 1996 Cadillac, with N.C. license tags XSX-3706.

There is no description of the suspects. The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries that police say are not life-threatening.

The incident was among four armed robberies reported by police overnight in Charlotte.

Anyone who spots the carjacked vehicle is asked to call 911 or leave an anonymous tip with CrimeStoppers, 704-334-1600.
