Hamilton, 45, has been charged in the death of Shirley Miller, whose body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in the bedroom of the home where she lived, in the 3700 block of Pimlico Trace Lane. That is off Beatties Ford Road, south of Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.
Police say Miller was dead when they arrived at the house, which she shared with Hamilton. But they have not determined how she died. And police have not said why Hamilton was hospitalized at Presbyterian Huntersville.
But when Hamilton was released Thursday from the hospital, he was taken by police for questioning, and then charged and jailed.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Officer Robert Fey said the death might have been related to some sort of domestic dispute.
