1 caught in Freedom Dr. robbery

One suspect is in custody, and police are looking for another man in connection with the armed robbery of a pizza restaurant this morning in west Charlotte.

The robbery happened shortly after 10 a.m. at the Papa Johns restaurant in the 6400 block of Freedom Drive. That is a short distance southeast of Freedom Drive's intersection with Little Rock Road and Moores Chapel Road.

According to police, two men robbed the store at gunpoint. Police called in their helicopter and dog search units and set up a perimeter in the area near the crime. Shortly before 1 p.m., police found one suspect in a wooded area nearby. The other suspect remains at large.

There were no injuries reported.
