Local charities need your help

As the region's economy continues to worsen, Charlotte's charities are experiencing record requests for help from the jobless, the homeless, people with disabilities and families losing ground against rising inflation and medical costs.

These charities are part of the Giving Guide, the Observer's annual list of charities. The list will be published in its entirety Nov. 30. Each Tuesday, we will run an abbreviated version of the Giving Guide in the Local & State section.
