Charlotte Area Transit System resumes bus service on Friday

The Charlotte Area Transit System resumed bus service on Friday, though officials warned that there may be detours and delays on some routes because of road conditions.

The local bus system had been offline since early Wednesday evening because snow and ice made for treacherous conditions on many streets. Officials had hoped to resume service on Thursday morning but ultimately decided not to scrap service altogether for the day.

CATS said all bus operations are back open, including express and regional express routes, neighborhood shuttles and Special Transportation Service.

CATS officials encouraged customers to check the status of buses at www.ridetransit.org or on CATS’ Facebook and Twitter pages.

The LYNX Blue Line, which operated Thursday, is back open today. Riders were asked to be careful around ice on station platforms. APRIL BETHEA
