Wrecks and other problems are causing troubles for motorists at 9 a.m. Wednesday in southern Mecklenburg County.
Police are dealing with collisions on N.C. 51, Providence Road, South Boulevard, Steele Creek Road and Community House Road.
Here is the 9 a.m. update:
I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-40 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).
I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-40 mph from George Liles Parkway (Exit 54) down to Mallard Creek Church Road (Exit 46). There also have been reports of debris in the road near the Harris Boulevard exit, so motorists should use caution there.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion caused by an earlier wreck on the John Belk Freeway; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Eastway Drive to uptown. Also, a collision in Union County near Wesley Chapel-Stouts Road, causing moderate delays.
Providence Road inbound ... Congestion and a collision at Westbury Drive; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Sharon Amity Road to uptown.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-40 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.
U.S. 321, Gaston County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph in each direction between I-85 and Dallas-Cherryville Highway.
Pineville-Matthews Road at Beckmore Place ... Collision; moderate delays.
McDowell Street at 4th Street ... Collision; moderate delays.
The Plaza at Drummond Avenue ... Collision; minor delays.
Steele Creek Road, just south of Westinghouse Boulevard ... Collision; minor delays.
