Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are on the scene of 25 wrecks across the city as the rainy morning commute nears 8:30 a.m.
Wrecks are slowing traffic everywhere from Interstate 77 northbound near Tyvola Road, where the right lane is blocked, to N.C. 73 in Huntersville near Hager’s Ferry Road.
Other wrecks are at South Tryon Street and Steele Creek Road, Steele Creek and Sam Neely roads, Providence Road at Jefferson Drive, and East Independence Boulevard at Eastway Drive.
Meanwhile, a portion of N.C. 218 near Indian Trail is scheduled to close at 9 a.m. Monday so crews can replace a bridge.

N.C. 218 over Goose Creek will close at 9 a.m. and remain closed until Oct. 15, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Passenger cars will detour onto U.S. 601, then to Old Dutch Road and back onto N.C. 218.
Tractor trailers will detour onto U.S. 601, then to N.C. 24/27, N.C. 51, Interstate 485 and back to N.C. 218.
