Kings Mountain pair charged with growing hallucinogenic mushrooms

Two people from Kings Mountain have been charged with growing hallucinogenic mushrooms, authorities said Saturday.

Cleveland County Sheriff Alan Norman said Teddy Calvin Lastinger, 37, and Sherri Michelle Lastinger, 34, were arrested Thursday after investigators found a psilocybin mushroom growing operation in their home.

Officers seized about 200 grams of mushrooms with a street value of about $2,000, Norman said.

The Lastingers were charged with possession of marijuana, manufacturing of psilocybin mushrooms and possession with intent to sell/deliver mushrooms, Norman said.

They were each being held in the Cleveland County Detention Center under $50,000 secured bond.
