Traffic is flowing smoothly at 9:40 a.m. Friday on Charlotte-area interstate highways.
There are no reports of collisions or other problems blocking the travel lanes. The congestion that develops every morning has dissipated, and traffic is moving close to posted speed limits.
A few construction projects are making news, however.

Providence Road at Wendover Road ... Collision reported at 9:20 a.m.; moderate delays.
Rainbow Drive, Kannapolis ... Crews have closed this road for several hours Friday so they can repair two storm water basins and pave over a repaired pipe. The detour route uses Bethpage Road, Leonard Street, Dale Earnhardt Boulevard and South Main Street.
Eastway Drive lane closure ... The southbound right-turn lane and the northbound left-turn lane on Eastway Drive onto Sugar Creek Road will be closed this weekend for construction.
The Charlotte Department of Transportation says the closure is related to construction of the light rail line in north Charlotte. The lanes will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday. Motorists can use The Plaza as a detour.
