Congestion and collisions are causing problems for morning commuters at 9 a.m. Wednesday across the Charlotte region.
The biggest problem currently is on southbound Interstate 77 near LaSalle Street. Police are working to clear a collision in the right lane, and it has caused major delays.
Here is the 9 a.m. update:
Shadow Pond Lane closure ... Shadow Pond Lane at Rea Road will be closed Wednesday morning for a month, so crews can connect the road to the new Rea Road alignment. The reopening of the road is scheduled for 5 p.m. May 23.

The detour route is Cotton Creek Drive, Truscott Road, Benbridge Lane and Macandrew Drive.

Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.
Sharon Amity Road at Tangle Drive ... Collision; minor delays.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion and a collision near Ovens Auditorium; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Eastway Drive to uptown.
Johnston Road ... Congestion and a collision at Marvin Road; traffic moving 15-25 mph northbound from the state line to I-485.
Providence Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from the Arboretum area to Wendover Road.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.
I-77 northbound, York County ... Collision blocking the left lane near Gold Hill Road; heavy delays for 5 miles.
U.S. 321, Gaston County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph in each direction between I-85 and Dallas-Cherryville Highway.
