No injuries were reported, but two families were displaced Monday when trees fell on their homes in northwest Charlotte.
No storms were reported in the area Monday, but authorities said drought in past years and recent heavy rains have weakened a number of trees locally.
The first incident took place around mid-afternoon, on Newcastle Street. That is in the Lincoln Heights community, between Beatties Ford Road and Interstate 77. Two adults and a child were left looking for shelter.
Then around midnight, a tree fell on a house in the 100 block of North Gregg Street. That is off West Trade Street, not far from Johnson C. Smith University.

The American Red Cross said it is providing help for the three adults and two children left seeking shelter.
