Today’s traffic: Congestion continues on I-485

The main part of the Tuesday morning commute has ended, but not the slowdowns on Interstate 485 in south Mecklenburg County.

Congestion continues to slow traffic in that area – as has been the case since about 6:15 a.m. Conditions should improve over the next half-hour, but at 9:20 a.m., traffic continued to be slow between Providence Road and N.C. 51.

Otherwise, congestion was lessening across the area, but there are still a few trouble spots.

North

Statesville Road at Old Statesville Road ... Collision; moderate delays.

Center City

John Belk Freeway at 3rd Street exit ... Collision; moderate delays.

East

Idlewild Road at Aster Road ... Collision; moderate delays.

Southeast

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.

Matthews-Mint Hill Road at Independence Boulevard, Matthews ... Collision involving an overturned vehicle; moderate delays.

North Wendover Road at Randolph Road ... Collision with injuries; moderate delays.

South

I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.

Park Road at Marsh Road ... Collision; minor delays.

West

U.S. 321, Gaston County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph in each direction between I-85 and Dallas-Cherryville Highway.
