The worst traffic problems so far today have developed after the traditional 9 a.m. end of the morning rush.
Collisions and other problems have been reported on three of the Charlotte area’s busiest routes – Interstate 85, Interstate 77 and East Independence Boulevard.
There actually are two problems on I-77, with wrecks on the northbound and southbound sides of the road, north of Charlotte.
Each of these problems is causing traffic slowdowns at 9:45 a.m.
An earlier collision involving a school bus in northeast Charlotte has been cleared.
Police report a two-vehicle collision on The Plaza at Barrington Drive. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Bus 1712, headed to Albemarle Road Elementary School, was involved in that incident about 6:30 a.m.
Medic said one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Crews reopened travel lanes shortly after 7:30 a.m.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion and a wreck near mile marker 25; traffic moving 20-25 mph from just north of Lake Norman down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).
I-77 northbound, north Charlotte ... Collision between I-85 and Sunset Road; moderate delays.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Collision at Windsor Square area of Matthews; traffic moving 10-20 mph from I-485 to the wreck scene.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.
I-85 northbound, near Billy Graham Parkway ... Vehicle fire; moderate delays.
Wilkinson Boulevard at Highland Street ... Collision; minor delays.
