Today’s traffic: Problem on Albemarle Road

The biggest traffic problem in the Charlotte area at 10 a.m. is on Albemarle Road.

A multi-vehicle collision about 9 a.m., involving a tractor trailer and a car, left a fuel spill on Albemarle Road, a short distance east of Harrisburg Road. A Hazmat team was called out to deal with the fuel spill.

The crash involved a car and the truck, both of which were inbound on Albemarle Road. The collision left the front of a car lodged under the side of the truck. No serious injuries were reported, according to authorities.

Both inbound lanes of Albemarle Road were closed for about a half-hour, but police were able to open one inbound lane later. At 10 a.m., traffic remains clogged on inbound Albemarle Road.

About the same time as the Albemarle Road wreck, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Idlewild Road. That took place near Cedarwild Road, a short distance from East Independence Boulevard.

A woman was struck by the vehicle, but authorities said the victim’s injuries did not appear to be serious.
